We have made other federal agencies aware of these activities while they were being conducted, as well as local governments, industry and the public through presentations at public meetings. In fact some activities that are currently ongoing (including those with USEPA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) were established through these communications. We have shared this information with other federal agencies and have asked for input to our future research priorities. We have shared information related to the plans and conduct of this study with industry and have every indication that it will be useful for decision-making related to everything from manufacturing to research. Communication with users of the information developed by USGS is essential to the effectiveness of our current research and the relevance of our future research.
