Section F - Occurrence, Distribution, and Transport of Agricultural Chemicals in the Midwest

Section F contains papers on the environmental fate of agricultural chemicals in the Midwest. The papers describe the occurrence, distribution, and transport of agricultural chemicals in ground water, streams, large rivers, reservoirs, and precipitation at regional to test plot scales. Examples of specific topics in this section are papers on the relation of nitrate concentrations in surface water to land use, the persistence of herbicides in reservoirs, and the results of a reconnaissance of pesticides in near-surface aquifers. The final eight papers in this section present results from the Management Systems Evaluation Areas (MSEA) program, which is part of an interagency research program to evaluate the effects of agricultural-management (farming) systems on water quality.
